The Girl Power Ukraine educational project is a real gem among charitable initiatives, as it has no analogues in Ukraine. Its main objectives are to increase literacy among orphan girls on gender equality, methods of combating violence, skills of choice of profession and financial independence, and increase the level of protection of the rights of such girls.

🌟 How was this project created?

We have long dreamed of creating a special project for orphans of an educational nature to motivate and inspire, promote their psychological protection and develop the necessary social skills to adapt to future adult life. The plans were grand. But the most difficult, as always, was financing.

💫 The first to support the initiative of the US Embassy in Ukraine Embassy Kyiv Ukraine and believed in the strength and scale of the main idea. Thus, in 2019, the history of the project began. In 2020, the foundation received the first financial support and implemented the first “pilot” Girl Power stream in Kyiv and Kyiv region. During the first year of school, 94 girls out of the planned 80 at that time passed 🤗 Due to quarantine restrictions, we could not conduct all offline training, so we tried to partially conduct online modules. After the completion of the project in the summer of 2021, a graduation and a camp was organized for 30 graduates, who were selected through motivation letters.

From the first launch, we made a lot of conclusions and realized that the best interaction and immersion in learning for girls is in the offline format. In 2021 the project was launched exclusively offline and in 6 cities of Ukraine at once: Lviv, Kyiv, Donetsk, Luhansk (territories controlled by Ukraine), Nikopol, Zaporizhia.

📍 The main value of the project is to give orphans the opportunity to be confident, know all their rights, learn to understand themselves and their needs, know more about their body and health and ways to care for it, form their self-esteem and confidently move forward to its goal. We attract experts from various fields: psychologists, doctors, lawyers and many others.

❣️ Today Girl Power Ukraine is supported by such companies as: Arzinger law firm, MEGOGO, SC Johnson, A Family Company, Auris and other philanthropists.

We do not plan to stop the momentum and we dream of reaching an even bigger scale throughout Ukraine at the beginning of the school year in 2022.
