The “Children in Media” Initiative Helps Teenagers from Vulnerable Communities Explore Modern Media Careers
Working with a green screen, reading from a teleprompter, and learning about the risks of artificial intelligence—recently, teenagers from vulnerable communities who are beneficiaries of the BlagomayHUB safe educational space visited the Novyny. LIVE television studio. The visit took place as part of the free social initiative “Children in Media” organized by Live Media HUB.
During the visit, participants got a behind-the-scenes look at how television works. They had the opportunity to try themselves as TV hosts, journalists, camera operators, and directors.
Beyond exploring the technical side of broadcasting, the teenagers learned the fundamentals of digital safety, practiced distinguishing fake news from reliable information, and discovered how to use artificial intelligence responsibly and safely for learning.
“Today, media literacy and critical thinking are just as essential for children as reading and writing. Our responsibility is to show them the other side of the information world so they can navigate it safely,” says Dina Bernatska, ambassador of the initiative and host of
Vechir.LIVE.
Following the interactive tour, the participants enjoyed refreshments, received branded tote bags, and were presented with Young Media Creator certificates. They also received special gifts from the project's partner, Portal Books publishing house—a copy of the children's media literacy book The History of Lies.
The “Children in Media” initiative is offered on an ongoing basis for organized groups of students in Grades 7–11 (up to 10 participants per group).
